About us

The company was founded in 1955 by a group of British cable manufacturers as African telephone Cables. Its factory and head office in Brits, was established in 1973. ATC installed the first optical fibre cable plant in Africa in 1982.
CBi Electric Aberdare ATC Telecom Cables was formed in 2007 when Allied Electronics Corporation (ALTRON) and Reunert Ltd, both listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, formed a joint venture by combining their communication cable manufacturing operations into one entity, located at Brits in the North West Province, Republic of South Africa. CBi electric Telecom Cables (Pty) Ltd (CBi Telecom) was formed in 2016.
The merger created a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier for both copper and optical fibre cable solutions, supplying the telecommunications, industrial and structured data communications industry. In addition synergistic connectivity services are provided including fibre ducting, splicing and training.
CBi Telecom’s vision is to be the market leader in the supply of cables in the communication sector, in a cost-effective manner, whilst at the same time delivering excellent customer service and meeting its commitments to corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

CBi Telecom is a proudly South African company with a long manufacturing history. The company designs and manufactures high performance products for its customers in the telecommunications, industrial and structured data sectors. Housing the largest copper and optical fibre cable manufacturing plant in Africa.
